He is studying jazz performance under the direction of Andrew Beals, Dan Goble, and Jamie Begian and is the recent recipient of the 2010 James Furman Award. This award is presented to the four students in the WCSU music department who demonstrate the highest level of musical ability in each graduating class. This past summer his quartet was showcased at The Greater Hartford Jazz Festival and so far in his career, he has been in playing situations with Rufus Reid, John Scofield, Danilo Perez, Ben Street, Richie Cole, and Greg Abate. |

Since Roger’s passing, it was his request that the current band members carry on the “Misfit tradition”, and keep the name and style of music going. ![]() | As a young child in elementary school, Dave Mack studied many instruments, but guitar became his first love. In 1993 Dave replaced Mikey Chung in Hartford’s number one, award winning reggae band, "Cool Runnings" and toured with the band for five years. Dave went onto form “Funk Food” which received Hartford’s Best Funk Band award. Funk Food went on to be The David Mack Band, which still performs today. He plays a wide variety of songs from a vast number of musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Lenny Kravitz, Pink Floyd, Dave Mathews, George Clinton, and Van Halen! He has opened for and rubbed elbows with international stars, such as The Wailers, James Brown, War, and BB King. Dave’s wife Myra accompanies him on weekend nights and has expanded his set to include songs by such female greats as Blondie, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, and Selena. |

Tom and Steve have been playing/singing since the 1970’s with bands such as the Illusions, the Midnight Flyer Band, Roger Hart and the Country Misfits and both have both performed at Foxwood’s Casino. Today, Steve’s daughter Emma (winner of UCONN Idol 2010), highlight’s the group with her country vocals, singing songs from Patsy Cline to Sugerland. Steve and Tom fill with songs from the 50’s and 60’s, Sinatra, Tom Jones, and more Country. They love to come out and have a great time. It was Emma’s interest in singing and entertaining that got the two “older guys” to continue to entertain in the area. They’ve been having a ball the last three years and the old adage “once the music is in you, it will always be in you” suits them just fine. |

The group, led by 25 year old guitarist/singer John Ingrassia, has appeared at many clubs around the area including Blackeyed Sally’s, The Hungry Tiger, and Toad's Place. John has performed and recorded with many prominent musicians sharing the stage with Chris Duarte, Grayson Capps and Devon Allman (son of legendary Greg Allman). He's an art school instructor at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. Having over 20 years of guitar playing experience, he teaches guitar, bass and beginner drums as well as conducting several blues/rock clinics all around the state. John has developed his own blues style by studying the techniques of B.B. King, Doyle Bramhall and Jeff Pitchell. Rod is a songwriter that released his CD “Songs for a Sunday Morning” in 2006. Rod also plays a wide variety of music including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, Black Crowes, Jakob Dylan and even a bit of Grand Funk Railroad. |

a traditional five-piece acoustic bluegrass band based in New York City. The
band consists of very talented, and experienced, traditional bluegrass singers
and musicians encompassing over one hundred years combined playing experience!
All five members have honed their skills in other bands, locally and
nationally. Their desire is to bring the traditional, hard driving,
soulful sound of bluegrass music to the urban audience…to those that are yet
uninitiated into "roots" acoustic music as well as the veteran
bluegrass fan. Their music is not for the faint of heart -it’s a hard-edged
sound that penetrates the soul. While
the band plays highly structured material with complex vocal harmonies and
incredible driving instrumentals, they bring a unique "Jam Band"
twist to the music.

Scrambling to fulfill a scheduled band commitment, Mike (vocals, percussion) and Dave (guitar, vocals) sat down and instantly realized they had an uncanny chemistry as a two-piece outfit. The show went on, and they have since become a mainstay at some of Connecticut's best bars and restaurants.
